Every year at Brookhill, we set aside time to do just that. Our school hosts an assembly where students invite veterans to be a part of a special program that honors their service to our country. Our friends in second grade always work hard to prepare a few patriotic songs to sing in their honor. It's a great way to start teaching our little ones early about the values of citizenship and sacrifice and about the importance of saying thanks to those who represent and serve our country.
After the ceremony, the whole school participates in a balloon release to remember the lives of those who no longer walk among us today.
